Originated in co-work with Daniele Schwarze (derivation and evolution of crocodiles), Karl-Heinz Fuchs (the skin of crocodiles) and Hemmo Nickel who depicts the most recent taxonomic standard of the crocodile-family. Trutnau and Sommerlad have been involved in conservation (e.g. Tomistoma Task Force), the keeping and breeding of crocodiles, caimans and alligators for a long period of time.
