It includes a brief introduction, a summary of the previous herpetological studies carried out in Nuevo León, a description of the physiographic characteristics of the state, a summary of the conservation status of each of the amphibian and reptile species occurring in the state, a list of the amphibian and reptile species known to occur in Nuevo León, and detail accounts of each species. The list includes a total of 146 species: 26 amphibians (22 anurans, 4 salamanders), and 120 reptiles (49 lizards, 63 snakes, and eight turtles). This information is presented in 370 pages which include: 260 color photos, five identification keys, 98 black and white figures, 83 color maps, a list of localities of collections for each species, and three appendices.
