2025, geb., Großformat 27x19.5cm, Gewicht 2.6 Kg , rund 950 Farbfotos. This book is built on the results of multiple National Natural Science Foundation of China projects led by the author, and brings together the expertise and dedicated work of many herpetologists across the country. It provides a comprehensive, up-to-date presentation of research on the lizard suborder in Chi-na. The book is divided into three major parts: Overview, Species Accounts, and Appendices. The Overview section spans past to present. It begins with historical records and traditional understandings of lizards, then moves into modern analyses of lizard taxonomy, evolutionary history, biogeographic patterns, ecological types, conservation status, and their key roles in ecosystems, giving readers a broad and solid foundation. The Species Accounts section, based on updated taxonomy, newly described species, and newly recorded species, compiles the most complete checklist of Chinese lizards to date. It includes 315 species across 48 genera and 10 families of native Chinese lizards, plus 4 invasive species from 4 families. Each species entry provides essential information: Chinese name, scientific name, synonyms, type locality, taxonomic notes, diagnostic features, habits, distribution, conservation status and protected class, and any harmful impacts. The book features 950 high-resolution ecological photos, showcasing the diversity, beauty, and life history of China’s lizards. The Appendices include key references, indexes for Chinese and scientific names, and a full species list. In Chinese with Latin names.
